Old Fishing Station Reviews

Oliver
Lovely spot if you're after tranquillity and stunning scenery. Wildlife was fantasticand there's a cosy pub just a short walk away. Be prepared for a bit of a trek to get there.
Oliver
Ian, Jess and their family, including Dubh, made us feel right at home. The cottage was cosy and well-equipped. The scenery was stunning and super peaceful, perfect for escaping busy life. We can't wait to return! Honestly, it's a lovely spot if you're after a quiet getaway. Highly recommend!
Emma
Honestly, this place is a bit of a hidden treasure. The serenity and stunning views make it worth the climb, even if you need to be reasonably fit. Loads of nearby sights and lovely walks to enjoy too. Definitely recommend!
Emily Carter
We had an amazing time on Dry Island, honestly. The cottage was charming and really felt like a home away from home. The view is absolutely breathtaking, especially at sunrise. It's super peaceful, perfect for a quiet break, but do keep in mind the short climb up and down - not ideal if you're not quite up for it. There's plenty to explore nearbyand Ian and Jess were genuinely helpful and friendly all along. Definitely a trip to remember!
Emma
We loved the peaceful setting, perfect for a chill-out holiday. The views from the patio and hot tub really are breathtaking. The bed and sofa were comfy, making it easy to unwind. The walk down to the floating bridge, though, is a bit of a trek-about 60 uneven steps plus a rough concrete path. Not ideal with luggage or shopping, so keep that in mind before booking. Still, the location makes up for it!
Alexandra
We had a really lovely time at Otter Cabin! Thanks so much to Jess, Ianand the whole family for making our stay so enjoyable. We're already looking forward to coming back soon. Just a quick heads-up for future guests: the walk from the carpark isn't very long, but if you've got lots of bags or groceries, you might want to do a few trips or leave the non-essentials in the car and pick them up later. Small tip, but it made things easier for us!
Oliver
Great spot, lovely hosts, definitely coming back soon! Highly recommend.
Emma
We had a lovely time staying in the ground floor of the old curing station. Ian, Jess, their familyand Dubh the dog really made us feel welcome. Perfect spot for exploring the west coast and nearby munros, highly recommend!
Emma
The cottage was beautifully situated on Dry Island, offering stunning views. However, we didn't realise the outdoor space wasn't private - Shellfish Safari guests also used the same area, which was a bit of a surprise.
Emma
We found the cottage really cosy with all the essentials and some lovely extras we didn't expect. If you're bothered by the occasional noise from upstairs, it's probably not the place for you, but honestly, it's quite similar to staying in a hotel. Ian and his family went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable.
Oliver
Absolutely loved the place! The hosts really knew their stuff and made us feel right at home. The fish safari was definitely a highlight. The pub nearby served up some cracking food too. Can't wait to return!
Emma

Ian was super helpful, even meeting us to help with our luggage-really appreciated that. The hosts are lovely and very accommodating. We enjoyed a great trip with Ian to explore the creoles. It's a perfect spot to base yourself and explore the local area. Would definitely recommend!

James
Great spot, everything we wanted in the cottage! Would come back.
Jamie
The spot's great if you love walking, spotting wildlife, or taking photos. Weather was typical for early autumn-pretty changeable and chilly but manageable with good gear. The place was just right for two of us. We're already planning to return, maybe in spring next time!
